I was on my way back from a weekend trip to Special Olympics Summer Games. Here I am sitting on a charter bus in front of two people I am co-volunteers with. They are also teachers and have been teaching for a very long time. There discussion on the bus on the way home was about family and getting old and death. I want to tell you how sad it was to hear how FINAL they made this life to be. They spoke of all the heart ache and grieving that they have encountered in their life with the loss of family members. It wasn’t the topic that was sad it was the finality they spoke with about life. It just seems so apparent that when you passed it was over. There was no hope in their voice that they would one day see the people they lost ever again. I have heard people speak about this before but not in the sense that they felt their lives would end the same way. They spoke of nursing homes and brought up their stories of losing their parents. It’s hard to swallow that this life is it. I mean God is so obvious and from every standpoint physically, literally, spiritually, emotionally and scientifically. How can you live this life and feel that this is all you get. We must have our hope in Heaven and faith that what we believe in is true. There is finality in our world and in our lives, however, the ultimate end we think about as Christians is in fact a most beautiful beginning. I will be praying for my two friends, in the hope that they will get to know Jesus. I believe this was one of the worst feelings I have had in listening to people speak about getting older. I love, as a Christian, that my trust is in a True and very Real God and my faith allows me to imagine what it will be like to first, be in Jesus’ embrace and second to see and hug the ones I have lost.. Christian Finality ended on the cross, we have only new beginnings and new births to look forward to as long as we are ready to surrender our beliefs and trust in His!
