Nothing New Under the Miami Sun

I have been studying and praying about the journey we take in our Christian life, especially here in Miami.  There are so many opportunities to grab a hold of here in Miami, both good and bad.  A lot of the times we choose the “bad” thing because it feels good.  Well, Satan (accuser) knows if he can help grant us what we feel is instant relief or satisfaction then typically as humans we take it.  I believe though if we started to realize that the instant relief we think we are getting is just allowing the chains of spiritual bondage to tighten up we would re-direct our hearts to Jesus.  Now, we try everything to fill the void that only God can fill.  No matter what you try to fill that void up with in Miami, its all meaningless, if Christ is not at the center of it.  When King Solomon wrote there is nothing new under the sun, I wonder if he had any idea of the impact that would have thousands of years later allowing us to realize chasing after these things that “fulfill” us will leave us empty.  We at some point, and unfortunately that point is typically rock bottom, need to accept the fact that Jesus is the only piece that can fill that void we have.  I look into my own life and see where I choose to sin and it breaks my heart to know that these are my choices I am making and not the Devil. Now, Once I have given into temptation, the flood gates of attacks are on, but if I could only focus on Christ and truly understand the depth of Jesus’ sacrifice then I would keep my eye on the cross cause even in sin, Jesus says I love you and I paid for that, let me dust you off and lets keep moving on.  You see everything in Christianity comes back to the cross and to what Jesus did for us.  It makes complete sense to me now why the Devil would push and pursue for John 3:16 to become so commercialized, It is the scripture that encompasses all of what God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit chose to sacrifice in order for US to spend eternity with him.  This truth is the reason why I will hold firm to understanding that there is Nothing New Under The Miami Sun! Amen.

Intimacy is Jesus’ desire

We sat around and spoke about a lot of good things and also things that cause turmoil and argument for argument sake in religion.  We slowly began to come undone and our focus left what we originally were talking about. Welcome to the sin of religion! Yeah you heard me right, its a sin to focus so much on the rules and regulations of the bible, instead of making the main deal the main deal, as my Pastor says it.  You see if we simply remember that we are in a love affair with Jesus, it wouldn’t be so entirely hard for us not to sin.  We have people in our lives that we love dearly and some of us are in love.  Well we do whatever necessary to try and not hurt them because we love them.  We tend to hide the bad things we do because it troubles most of us the disappointment they would feel and the wounds we may cause.  Jesus asks the same of us with him, he desires an intimate relationship, one where we are connected by his love and covered by his grace.  As we grow in Christ we come to realize that Jesus is simply the truth.  We, as believers, focus way to much on the legalism of scripture then on the intimate relationship Christ calls for us to have with him.  You see if we learn to focus on that relationship and let his love mold us or develop us, then He will take us to those next levels. God ultimately wants our cups to runneth over with his love, the only way to do that is by starting at the top.  If we let him pour into us the overflow will then cover those we care about, but more so deepen our intimacy with Christ.  Do not be fooled by the Liar!!! Jesus says he has set you free, so come some time with me!! Jesus wants all of you!!!
