Lack of Discipline
When we struggle to do the right thing, we need to realize it’s because we are doing our own thing. I cannot count the times I have been in line with God, then to just fall out because I chose to sin. My flesh, mind and sinful nature exemplify the false satisfaction of the sin. I saw this last night on the football field, I watched young men play very hard and make an honest attempt to play for one another. However, the few plays they fell short cost us the game. Now, not the individual but the lack of discipline. You see what I have learned, if the most important person in my life is me, then I cannot be a good son, friend, teammate, future husband or father. We have to surrender and realize the most important person is God and once we accomplish this we need to live it. Lack of discipline is rooted in our selfishness. When we are fresh and our minds are right, we are not at risk, but when the pressure turns on or we get tired, our focus goes back to us. Anytime, I spend to much time looking at me and my life, I miss out on all God is offering right in front of me. There is an old saying in football and it says ” Fatigue makes cowards of us all.” This statement stands true in our spiritual life as well. When we are tired and down, we need to stop relying on our quick fixes and finally allow God to embrace us, love us and carry us through the tough times and the good times. Lack of Discipline on a football can cost you a win, but Lack of Discipline in following Christ can cost you your life. My prayer is the we all, my friends, find urgency in our walk with Christ and we listen to the greatest coach of all time and just Do What He Has Coached Us To Do, Love One Another!
